What is AmCham Qatar?

The Chamber is a non-profit, non-governmental and non-political organization dedicated to fostering mutual cooperation and understanding between Qatar and the United States through trade, commerce and investment.

When was AmCham Qatar established?

AmCham Qatar was first launched in Doha in the presence of H.E. Hassan Al Ghanem, Minister of Justice and former U.S. Ambassador Joseph LeBaron in February of 2010.

How can I become a member?

Background checks are completed on all applicants. Once this is passed, the application is processed and you are sent an official letter of acceptance with the Chamber’s information and your annual membership invoice. Please note that there is a $200 new member application processing fee and membership applications are not complete until AmCham Qatar has received your full membership payment.

Do I have to be American or work for an American company to join?

No. AmCham Qatar has a diverse membership and welcomes applicants from the United States, Qatar or other countries. American citizenship is not a requirement to be a company representative. Members are not required to reside in Qatar.

Where the corporation was formed does affect what type of membership the corporation will hold

  • Company Membership is for corporations formed, founded or incorporated in the U.S. or those with substantial investment or operational interest held by U.S. legal entities or citizens in the determination of the Board of Governors.
  • Associate Companies is for corporations not otherwise qualified for membership, whose business relationships with the U.S. or with American companies are such that their membership in the Chamber will, in the opinion of the Board of Governors, contribute towards achievement of the objectives of the Chamber.

Applicants for Individual Membership must be U.S. citizens residing in Qatar.

What is your corporate member profile by nationality?

Approximately 55% American, 25% Qatari and 20% Other as of October 2014

What are the different membership levels?

There are five levels of membership, each with different benefits and dues. Please review our Member Levels & Dues.

Can I change my organizations membership level once I become a member?

Yes, every AmCham Qatar member can change their membership level during their annual membership renewal, after one full year of membership.

Who sponsors/funds AmCham Qatar?

AmCham Qatar is a non-profit organization. All funds raised are through membership dues and events.

How many members are there?

AmCham Qatar has over 110 company members and over 200 member representatives as of October 2014.

What kind of events does AmCham Qatar have?

AmCham Qatar plans monthly roundtable events on business topics such as the global economy, energy and local infrastructure projects. We also host networking events and an annual golf tournament. For details on our upcoming schedule of events, please review our calendar.

Is AmCham Qatar part of the U.S. Embassy Doha?

No. AmCham Qatar is a non-governmental organization but maintains a close working relationship with the U.S. Embassy Doha through Ambassador Dana Shell Smith and Senior Commercial Officer Robert Dunn who serve as Honorary Board Members.
