Doing Business in US
Links
There are many online resources for foreign nationals seeking to open a business in the United States. Here are a few of them:
- “Starting a Business in the U.S. as a Foreign National” – The U.S. Small Business Administration
- “Starting a Business in the U.S.” – Path2USA
- “How to Set Up a US Company as a Non-Resident” - USA Corporate Services Inc.
The US Embassy of Qatar is an excellent resource for foreign nationals interested in moving to the US. The Embassy has a separate webpage for “companies in Qatar considering investments in the United States and some suggestions for getting started.”
Visas
Foreigners must obtain a visa in order to enter the United States.
Click here for an overview of visas to the United States. The Bureau of Consular Affairs of the US Department of State administers the page and provides official, up-to-date information on short- and long-term visas.
We’d like to draw your attention to the “Business” section, for those going to the US “to conduct temporary business” and also to the “Immigrate” section, for those planning to work in the US for an extended period of time.
You may also want to try the website’s “Visa Wizard” if you are unsure as to which visa you should apply for.
Organizations in the US
Upon arrival in the United States, Qatari/GCC organizations should consider applying for membership within the US-Qatar Business Council, the National-US Arab Chamber of Commerce, and the US Chamber of Commerce.
